Dogs, Men & Women | Stand Up Comedy By Rajasekhar Mamidanna Hello friends, So the other day I was walking in my neighbourhood and saw one lady who was standing in a corner of a street, by the side of the poll and was talking something. Initially thought she was on phone, but there was no phone and as I took a closer look I realised she was a little shabbily dressed and a bag which is torn at multiple places. I thought to myself, may be she is homeless and I continued on my walk. May be she is a homeless person. I thought to myself, may be she was just complaining about life to that electric pole. Electric pole because, just like electricity, even God is invisible, but we know he is there somewhere. Just like electricity has poles, God has statues. May be in that lady's mind, she has transcended the difference between electricity and God and for her pole is the statue. I turned back and I realised, we are poles apart from each other now. 4 poles to be specific. But she was still talking to herself. I continued my walk and I started wondering what makes people go into this kind of mental state. Usually people who are under stress behave like this where they talk to themselves and calm themselves down. I saw her and I dont think she is under stress and to be very honest a person who has EMIs to pay for his/her home will be stressed. Home= stress. Homeless= stressless. I looked back and thought to myself, I dont have EMIs because I dont have a home loan and I dont have own home also. I am somewhere in between. I think, may be people who are in between have more stress, because anything can happen to both us. If we earn well, we will have home. If we dont, we will be homeless. We have to maintain a perfect balance. That's why it's called Middle class I guess. We are just one line away from poverty line. So ya stress makes people talk to themselves. Second reason could be that sometimes, we are just thinking in dialogues. I will meet her and say this. I will meet him and say that. But in that lady's case, I dont think anyone is meeting her. So may be she is imagining people and talking to them. So ya imagining people makes us talk to ourselves. As I continued the walk, a guy who was coming in the opposite direction stopped me. He was like 'Hey'. I was like 'Hey'. Thank God there was no Jaya around or else it would have been Jaya hey. anyway, that guy was like, I have been observing as I was walking towards you, were you talking on phone or talking to yourself? I said, I am a comedian. I was just thinking of some content. He was like, oh is it? because I saw one lady there, she was talking to an electric pole and you are talking to yourself so thought may be in this area everyone is weird. He smiled and walked away. That's when I realised, ever since I saw her, I was also talking out loud. Its contagious. So three times people talk to themselves, When they are in stress, when they are middle class and when they are comedians. All these three together, in worst case scenario makes you homeless also. Anyway I dont know why I am talking all this here, nobody reads descriptions. Also, this March 29th I am doing a show in London.
