Vinchu (The Scorpion) | Political-Comedy Short Film ft Delzad Hiwale, Urjita Wani and Sumedh Natu

A fresh wave of saffronisation has taken over the youth of India by storm. It's against this backdrop that we meet Saleel, a queer content creator who works for the propaganda department of Vinchu Sena (Scorpion Army), a right-wing political party willing to do anything to stay in the news. One day, Saleel is instructed to vandalize the home of an author writing books against the religious figurehead of the state, capture the attack on camera, and make an Instagram reel out of it. Things go awry when Saleel and his colleagues beat up the wrong person. Faced with possible suspension from his party, Saleel decides to set things right. But first he must face the part of himself he has been running away from. Juxtaposing Saleel's inner turmoil with the cracks in Indian society, Vinchu turns the viewer into a fly-on-the-wall to frame a provoking, coming-of-age comedy that reveals the politics of identity, dissent, and the internet as the new battleground for intolerance.
