Career Start
Raju Srivastava (1963-2022), born Satya Prakash Srivastav in Kanpur, was one of the most beloved Hindi-language comedians of his generation. Often credited under the character name Gajodhar, he built a career on observational humour about small-town life, middle-class families and Indian railway platforms, all delivered in his distinctive Uttar Pradesh cadence. He rose to nationwide fame as a runner-up on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005 and went on to win its champions edition. He also appeared in films such as Maine Pyar Kiya and Baazigar, and toured prolifically until his death.
