Urooj Ashfaq is a Mumbai-based stand-up comedian, writer and actor who has become one of the most internationally visible young voices in Indian comedy. Born in Dubai in 1995 and raised in Mumbai from the age of twelve, she began performing in 2016. Her solo Oh No! won the Best Newcomer award at the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards, making her the first India-based comedian to take home that honour. The show drew on her parents' divorce, therapy and cultural identity. She has since toured the show internationally and launched a follow-up hour, How To Be A Baddie, alongside regular performances in India and the UK.
