Pandas are a waste of time

About this Video
Pandas are the ultimate example of pretty privilege in conservation. They’re cute, fluffy, black-and-white mascots, so we pour billions into panda conservation and zoo breeding programs. But from an environmental resources perspective, they deserve extinction — they eat only bamboo, refuse to reproduce, and contribute almost nothing to their ecosystem services. Meanwhile, bees, which keep agriculture, pollination, and food security alive, are dying off. Vultures, nature’s waste management, are disappearing — and that means disease, rabies, and dead livestock piling up. But no, we’d rather bankroll panda plushies and corporate wildlife branding. If we cared about real biodiversity, sustainability, and climate resilience, we’d invest in keystone species, not this walking PR scam. Pandas don’t need conservation; they just need to stop coasting on their pretty privilege.
