Even as Education Minister, his official salary is around ₹18 lakh a year. That’s roughly what many 28-year-olds in Bengaluru earn while insisting they’re broke. But in 2022, his daughter went to The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University to pursue a Master of Laws (LLM). The one-year course costs roughly ₹70 lakh. How could a man on such a modest salary afford that? Obviously, like any good father, he must have taken a student loan. At an interest rate of 9.5%, it takes about 11.5 years to repay a ₹70 lakh loan to SBI. So, as a fellow human being, I won’t ask for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation before 2033.
